Kogi Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Senior Citizens’ Welfare

Kogi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment towards prioritising the welfare of senior citizens and retirees who dedicated their lives to public service.
The Auditor General for Local Government, Hon. Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege, made the remark during a meeting with some directors and retirees of audit services in his office on Monday in Lokoja.
Hon. Adabenege praised Governor Alhaji Usman Ododo’s administration for sustaining prompt payment of workers’ salaries, pensions, and other benefits.
He assured that the government would continue to improve workers’ welfare amidst the challenging economy to cushion its effect on citizens.
“The governor understands your plights, having served in this office. Your requests for gratuity and other areas of concern have been submitted for his consideration,” Adabenege stated.
The Local Government Auditor General, equally pronounced that the senior citizens would begin to receive monthly stipends with immediate effect, saying that provisions to also ensure they were captured for festive celebrations packages had been perfected.
The Director of Audit Services, Mr. Chris Emmanuel, revealed plans to honour 16 retired directors from the audit profession who served meticulously.
According to Mr. Emmanuel, the monthly support is meant to assist the retirees in the aspect of their health needs, and welfare, including benefits for wives of deceased workers who died in active service.
