Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael Flags Off Palliative Distribution Of 1,138 Bags Of 50kg Rice To Kabba/Bunu LGA Residents
The Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, has distributed about 1,138 branded 50kg rice to Kabba/Bunu LGA residents across the 15 wards of the local government area.
Distributing some packs of the rice at the LG Secretariat today, Zacchaeus, who was ably represented by the local government DLG, Mrs Omolola Funmilayo Olorungbogun, said “the gesture was in the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan and Lent”.
She said: “You know the Governor is a man of the people and he sees and seizes opportunities such as this to make a statement regarding his undying love for the people. He is doing this to identify with them as he has always done.”
Zacchaeus urged citizens to use the opportunity of the month to pray for the country and Kogi State, the chairman expressed gratitude to the people for their massive vote for the All Progressive Congress (APC’s), Zacchaeus, assuring “the administration would deliver on the promises made during electioneering campaign”.
Noting that the peaceful atmosphere in the state was a result of the prayers and spiritual efforts of both Muslims and Christians, Zacchaeus said, “the governor appreciates your prayers for him, this state and the country at large and I urge you not to relent”.
The Chairman further noted that the gesture was also part of his initiatives to improve the welfare of party leaders and to motivate them to be more proactive in the development of the party.
He, then thanked party leaders for their constant support and assistance to the party members across the state.
“The food relief was part of the governor’s efforts to assist the people in the sacred month and elevate the condition of the less privileged,” the chairman added.
He said the items will be distributed to all residents of the local government area in each of the fifteen wards of the local government area.
He stated further that proper arrangements has been put in place to ensure the palliatives get to those who needed them most.
“We have put every measure in place to guard against diversion of these items.
“We have set up local government and ward sub-committees who will go round to ensure that these items reach the most vulnerable people,” he said.
Receiving the allocation for Kabba/Bunu local government area, Zacchaeus, described the gesture as timely, considering the current economic hardship faced by the people.
