- Minister of Steel Development Meets Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination.
The Honourable Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, hosted Hajiya Hadiza Bala Usman, Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination and Head of the Central Coordination Delivery Unit (CDCU), along with her team, at his office in Abuja.
The meeting focused on strategies to enhance the steel sector’s performance and fulfill President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of reviving Nigeria’s steel industry to drive the nation’s industrialization efforts.
During the session, Prince Audu praised Hajiya Bala Usman and her team for their crucial role in advancing the “Renewed Hope” agenda of the Tinubu administration. He assured the CDCU of the Ministry’s commitment to achieving its objectives despite challenges, including limited funding for a sector that has remained stagnant for over 45 years.
Highlighting recent progress, the Minister described the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Federal Government and the original builders of the Ajaokuta Steel Complex as a historic milestone. He emphasized that this marks the first time in over four decades that the government has demonstrated the political will to revive the steel sector.
Hajiya Hadiza Bala Usman commended the Ministry’s efforts and reiterated the CDCU’s commitment to providing guidance and support to ensure delivery on the administration’s key priorities. She encouraged the Ministry to explore partnerships with development agencies to address funding gaps and improve project execution.
The interactive session also included a presentation from the CDCU, offering recommendations for achieving efficient delivery and aligning the Ministry’s objectives with the administration’s eight key priorities for national development.
This collaboration underscores the government’s resolve to revitalize the steel industry, a critical step towards achieving economic diversification and industrial growth for Nigeria.
